ড. মাহফুজুর রহমান (Dr. Mahfujur Rahman)

Mahfuzur Rahman. Economist. He obtained Master's degrees in economics from Dhaka and Manchester Universities and Ph.D from the Netherlands School of Economics, Rotterdam. Dr. Rahman worked in the East Pakistan Planning Department and later in the Bangladesh Planning Commission before joining the United Nations in New York in 1976. He retired from the organization as an assistant director of economic policy analysis. He lives in New York. Flowers are his passion and he loves to capture them, particularly flowers of Bengal, in photographs. His works as an economist never got in the way of his pursuit of that passion. The result is the present collection of photographs of flowers of Bengal. With characteristic modesty, he disclaims, in the introduction, any knowledge of botany. All that matters to him is that the reader should find in these flowers a thing of beauty and joy.
