Mad Noiseless Crescendos is Aqueb Safwan Jaser’s first publication as well as first poetry collection. Written during the pandemic, the book deals with urban melancholy that is heavily experienced during the early twenties. Taking that into consideration, Mad Noiseless Crescendos eventually concentrates on individualism with the hope of taking the readers on a voyage of self-discovery with poems such as “Little Things”, “Not Alone”, and “The Greatest Show on Earth.” To create divergence, Aqueb Safwan Jaser subtly plays with the theme of magic realism with the poems “Ocean Blues”, “Lady Imaginary”, “Stuck on Mars” and “Cafe Interstellar”. Illustrations play a significant role in Mad Noiseless Crescendos, and Samin Farhan’s artistic perspective helped in manifesting a dreamlike atmosphere to invite the readers in. The poems are labeled as tong poems by Farhan Tanvir Chowdhury, the editor of the book, as they capture the discourse on everyday matters of pragmatic or political significance at tongs or tea-stalls. He hopes for it to go on to become a new literary genre in poetry coming out of the modern Bengali diaspora.
