শাফি উদ্দিন হায়দার (Shafi Uddin Hyder)
Mr. Shafi Uddin Hyder was born on 11th December 1935 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. In course of his long active service career in different public sector organisations under the Ministry of Industries, Govt of Bangladesh, he had the opportunity of having the best possible higher education from the distinguished and well reputed educational institutions of the world. He traveled widely on trade promotion, market research and study program being sponsored by the International Agencies. In due course it enabled him to become a specialist in industrial and marketing management. After having degree in commerce from the University of Dhaka, he joined BSCIC and was selected for participation in the Small Industries Development Administrators course in 1966 sponsored by Japan Productivity Centre. He completed a post-graduate study program on International Marketing from the Harvard University, USA in 1968 and a Diploma course on Foreign Trade from ITC, Geneva sponsored by UNCTAD/GATT in 1970. This was followed by a market study and research program on textile products in the USA, EU countries and Middle Eastern countries. He was participant of the Seventh Senior Staff course in PATC designed for the Joint Secretaries, Govt of Bangladesh. He served in different Senior Executive positions such as Secretary/Chief Executive, Handloom Corporation, BSCIC and Senior General Manager, Secretary, BSEC, Company Board Directors of Large Industrial Enterprises such as BMTF, PIL, ETL etc. After retirement he was appointed as National Consultant (marketing) in UNDP/ILO Financed Project "Institutional Strengthening of BSCIC" and in the World Bank financed project "The Restructing of Jute Mills in Bangladesh". He was the leader of Two Member Trade Team to Myanmar-1976, Member of high powered Trade Delegation of Bangladesh to EU countries-1977, Member of Bangladesh Trade Team to Nepal-1986. He was the past President of Rotary Club, Dhaka Midtown, Member, Governing Committee, Tejgaon Degree College and Dohar Nawab Ganj Degree College, Dhaka. He was also associated with several social welfare organisations. He is presently acting as Justice of the Peace appointed by the Govt of Australia and member of the Board of Directors of Canterbury City Community Centre, Sydney (honorary position). He has a good number of publications in English and Bengali at his credit.
