নাজমুল আহসান চৌধুরী (Najmul Ahsan Chowdhury)

A bureaucrat by profession he has worked both in the Police administration as well as the civil administration of Bangladesh. He joined the erstwhile Police service of Pakistan cadre in 1970. He served in different Ministries including the President’s Secretariat and subsequently retired as a Secretary to the Govt. in December 2005. Mr. Chowdhury is an alumnus of the University of Dhaka, Punjab University and Manchester University, UK. As a guitarist and a music lover he is associated with cultural organization MRIDANGO where many promising as well as eminent artistes – singers, reciters, and musicians are members. COVID-19 had deeply moved him seeing the miseries of people in 2020. He, therefore, penned down his thoughts during the lockdown period in the form of a diary. Nazmul Ahsan Chowdhury is a firm believer in the indomitable courage and spirit of human beings. A life member of the Bangla Academy, he is the co-author of a book on Criminal Laws and Procedures. He also co-authored a chapter in the Report on Human Security in Bangladesh– In Search of Justice & Dignity, published by the UNDP, September 2002.
