এস. নজরুল ইসলাম (S. Nazrul Islam)

S. Nazrul Islam, the former Chief of Research of United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, received his Ph.D. degree in Economics from Harvard University and M.Sc. degree from Moscow State University. He taught Economics at Dhaka University, Emory University, Kyushu University, and St. John’s University. Through his research, Islam made his mark in several areas of economics, including economics of growth, transition from planning to market, the relationship between inequality and environmental quality, and sustainable use of rivers. Dr. Islam also did extensive research on development and water issues of Bangladesh. He has published twenty-one books and numerous journal articles.
